December 2025’s huge 30-game release line-up includes ‘must-play’ GOTY remaster

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the biggest game of December 2025, but there are plenty of other titles worth checking out – including Football Manager 26 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows

As we reach the end of the year and some much-deserved downtime, games studios are as busy as ever with a bumper 30 titles arriving in December.

While November was chock-a-block with massive new releases, most notably Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Kirby Air Riders and Football Manager 26, this trend seems set to continue in December. We’ve got remakes of classic video games, a fresh entry into a beloved series, and existing titles finally making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The star of the show is undoubtedly Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which launches for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on December 4. Samus Aran is forced to grapple with an uneasy alliance between Space Pirates and Metroids, a companion named Myles Mackenzie, and antagonist Sylux in this new chapter of a series that has spanned nearly four decades.

Another highlight for December is the eagerly-awaited Switch 2 port of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The latest AC game releases on Switch 2 on December 2, reports All Out Gaming.

The game, which originally launched on other platforms back in March, features two main characters – Naoe and Yasuke – and is set in late 16th-century Japan.

The Switch 2 version aims for a stable 30 frames-per-second in both handheld and docked modes, and also introduces touchscreen navigation for menus and maps.

But this isn’t the only game making the transition to Nintendo’s flagship console. Football Manager 26 is scheduled to release on December 4 – exactly a month after PC and console versions went live.

However, a release that might go under the radar is an upgraded version of a former Game of the Year. Red Dead Redemption is coming out on the latest consoles and mobile on December 2.

After picking up the biggest prize at The Game Awards 15 years ago on its release in 2010, Red Dead Redemption arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.

It comes with horror companion Undead Nightmare and bonus content that was released with its Game of the Year edition on previous consoles. Gamers can also enjoy free upgrades if they own the PS4, Switch or Xbox One versions of RDR.

PS4 and Switch 2 players can pick up where they left off with previous save data, according to Rockstar Games.
