Samsung is back with a new binge-watching device that offers a more portable way to view TV.
Want a more flexible way to watch TV without the need for a giant television? Samsung’s newest portable projector could be worth a look. Called the Freestyle+, this mini but mighty device will be officially revealed at this week’s CES tech show in Las Vegas. It’s an upgrade to the older Freestyle projector, which first arrived back in 2022 and it looks set to raise the bar, with promises of smarter AI features, brighter images and broader entertainment options.
One of the standout improvements coming to the Freestyle+ is a far simpler way to plug in and be entertained. All users need to do is switch the Freestyle+ on, and it handles the rest.
That’s thanks to it being powered by Samsung’s AI OptiScreen technology, which allows the projector to automatically adjust the picture to suit its surroundings. So, it can be pointed at almost any wall without the need to tweak settings. That should make it much easier to jump straight into a Netflix episode or watch a Disney+ movie.
AI OptiScreen also brings with it a range of other clever features designed to optimise the image across different surfaces and lighting conditions. These include 3D Auto Keystone, which corrects image distortion even on uneven or angled surfaces such as corners or curtains, and Real-time Focus, which keeps the picture sharp as the projector is moved or rotated.
Another handy addition is Screen Fit, which automatically sizes the image to match a compatible projector screen accessory. There’s also Wall Calibration, a feature that analyses the colour and texture of the projection surface and adjusts the image to reduce visual distractions and improve clarity.
Together, these smart tools should remove much of the usual frustration associated with setting up a projector.
As with the original Freestyle, the Freestyle+ is designed to be easy to carry from room to room and includes a built-in speaker. It also supports Wi-Fi connectivity and offers access to popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.
“The Freestyle+ reflects Samsung’s vision to create displays that adapt naturally to how people live and move between spaces,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business. “By combining true portability with intelligent AI that optimises both the viewing environment and the content itself, The Freestyle+ makes it easier to enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience wherever you are.”
Samsung hasn’t confirmed pricing yet, but the Freestyle+ is expected to launch in stores in early 2026.
