LG has confirmed the release of a major upgrade that’s offering Sky channels for free.
Homes with an LG TV are getting a blockbuster boost right in time for Christmas. The Korean technology ginat has just confirmed a major upgrade to its popular LG Channels platform, which is bringing a wave of new features and plenty of extra free content to living rooms — including shows from Sky.
The update, which began rolling out this month, means those with certain LG screens will be able to watch content from Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault and Sky Sports Classics without needing a subscription. LG has also recently added the Sky News channel, further expanding its free lineup.
That boost isn’t all. The update also introduces even more content, such as LG1 Christmas for festive viewing, the FIFA+ Women Channel for football fans, plus there’s the DP World Tour for those who enjoy watching a bit of golfing action.

Like all LG Channels, these additions are FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) services, meaning viewers will see adverts during programmes.
Beyond new channels, the upgrade delivers broader improvements, including personalised content recommendations and a refreshed user interface designed to make discovering something to watch quicker and easier.
A new “Quick Access” feature allows viewers to press the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a programme to instantly view channel information, the TV guide, favourites, and popular content.
“LG Channels is designed to give users seamless access to high-quality, engaging content,” said Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “With the latest upgrade — from our new logo to enhanced personalisation features — we’re making everyday viewing more intuitive and enjoyable for millions of users worldwide.”
