Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is set to launch on July 22 at Galaxy Unpacked in London, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the new Z Fold 8 Ultra. Leaks and FCC filings have revealed most of the specs ahead of the official announcement.

    Price and Release Date

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to start at around 1,200 dollars for the base 256GB model in the US. European pricing leaks suggest approximately 1,299 euros, which converts to roughly 1,486 dollars at current exchange rates. Samsung may offer a free double storage upgrade during the pre-order period, bumping the base model to 512GB at no extra cost.

Pre-orders are expected to open on July 22 immediately after the Unpacked event, with retail availability following in early August.

What Changes From the Z Flip 7

The Z Flip 8 is an evolutionary upgrade rather than a redesign. Here is what is different:

    • Chipset: Exynos 2600 in most regions, with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in select markets
    • Battery: 4,300mAh, same as the Z Flip 7
    • Weight and thickness: Slight reductions, though Samsung has not confirmed exact figures
    • Display crease: Improved to be less visible than the Z Flip 7
    • Software: One UI 9 based on Android 17, with Gemini Intelligence AI features
    • Cameras: Same system as the Z Flip 7, no sensor upgrades

    What Stays the Same

Samsung is not upgrading the battery size, charging speed, camera hardware, or display specs this generation. The Z Flip 8 keeps the same main camera system, the same charging rates, and the same display resolution and brightness as its predecessor.

There is also uncertainty around Qi2 wireless charging support. Earlier reports suggested the Z Flip 8 would adopt the magnetic wireless charging standard, but more recent leaks indicate Samsung may have dropped this feature from the final spec sheet.

    The Z Flip 8 FE

Samsung is also expected to launch a Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE, a more affordable foldable targeting the 799 to 899 dollar range. The FE model would use an Exynos 2500 chipset, 8GB RAM, and a smaller 3.4-inch cover screen, making it the cheapest foldable phone from a major manufacturer.

The Fold 8 Ultra Steals the Show

While the Z Flip 8 is a modest update, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the headliner at this Unpacked event. The Fold 8 Ultra introduces a 200MP main camera, 5,000mAh battery, 8-inch inner display, and a 6.5-inch cover screen, with prices starting at 1,999 dollars for the 256GB model and exceeding 2,700 dollars for the 1TB variant.

Samsung is also confirming Galaxy Glasses and Galaxy Watch 9 at the same event.
