Samsung is expected to unveil new Galaxy A series phones shortly after introducing its flagship Galaxy S26 lineup. Leaks around the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 have been picking up pace in recent weeks, and the latest one offers an early look at the design of the more premium model. Images of the Galaxy A57 in a purple colorway have surfaced in a TENAA regulatory listing, giving us a glimpse of Samsung’s next-gen mid-range phone. While the overall design closely resembles last year’s Galaxy A56, the new model appears to feature a noticeably slimmer profile. According to the listed specifications,…
Nike yesterday revealed that it expects $1.5 billion in gross incremental costs, on an annualized basis, because of tariffs. That’s a 50% increase from Nike’s last estimate, provided in June, of $1 billion. Meanwhile, Nike’s gross margin for its first fiscal quarter of 2026 decreased 320 basis points, in part due to “increased product costs, including new tariffs, and channel mix headwinds,” EVP and CFO Matthew Friend said on a call with analysts. Friend stated that Nike is revising its numbers because, since the company’s last earnings call, “new reciprocal tariff rates have been increased for certain countries.” “Given the…
OpenAI has officially launched GPT-5.2, the latest iteration of its flagship AI model series and its answer to Google’s Gemini 3. The new model is meant to be faster, smarter, and more helpful for the complex, real-world queries with improvements in reasoning and long-document processing. It is rolling out to ChatGPT’s paid subscribers as part of the Plus, Pro, Team, and Enterprise tiers, and developers via API. OpenAI provides GPT-5.2 in three models: GPT-5.2 Instant, GPT-5.2 Thinking, and GPT-5.2 Pro (is it just me, or does the naming sound similar to that of the Gemini models?). For everyday users, the…
CTV is officially in its “wait, what are we actually buying?” era.Years of euphoric growth has given way to a wave of hard questions from advertisers. They want to know who actually owns the inventory. Why the same impression is showing up across multiple buys. And just how many intermediaries are involved in getting one ad on a screen. Traditionally, those answers came from the buy side – the demand-side platforms. Now, more buyers are pressing the sell-side instead. “With the commercial deals we have with advertisers, we’re starting to see more demands over the transparency and the provenance of…
Before we get to this Monday’s Micro Softy, here are some distractions. Great analytical minds can reason around distractions and get to a problem’s solution. It Happens Every Spring is a fun 1949 movie that mixes baseball with science fiction. A scientist invents a formula that, when applied to an object, causes it to repel wood. So he rubs it on a baseball and becomes an all-star pitcher in the major leagues. He doesn’t throw hard, but that’s okay. When the batter swings his wooden bat, there is little or no contact. Fans and sports writers are amazed. “It Happens…

There’s a new Themes section in the Microsoft Store for Windows 11. It houses hundreds of curated themes, including wallpapers, theme colors, and other visual elements, that you can download and apply in a single click. The new Themes section aims to make personalization easier for users. With users now accustomed to rich theming on smartphones and tablets, Microsoft had to address growing complaints that Windows PCs didn’t offer the same level of customization (with the same level of ease). The new Themes section contains over 400 themes, “over 35 of which are new to the store.” While there’s a…
Apple plans to release a new privacy feature with iOS 26.3 that will allow iPhone and iPad users to hide their precise location from network carriers. Spotted in the latest iOS 26.3 beta build, the feature limits the location data carriers can access, giving users more control over how their whereabouts are shared. According to a support page detailing the “limit precise location” setting (via MacRumors), carriers can currently pinpoint your location down to a street address based on which cell towers your phone connects to. The new setting reduces “the precision of location data available to cellular networks,” limiting…
From inventory constraints and halted shipments, to tariffs whiplash and waterway obstructions, brands and retailers have been battling supply chain disruption for years. But companies are able to handle the chaos, conflicts and uncertainty a little bit better now, executives said on panels recently during Shoptalk Fall in Chicago. They’ve gotten used to having to pivot, whether there’s an issue locally or internationally. And artificial intelligence has made adapting somewhat easier than five years ago, thanks to tools that flag delays, help optimize inventory and automate tasks. Today, agility with supply chains is really about having options, remarked Derek Geiss, chief…
The first-generation iPhone Air invented a new market segment — ultra-thin smartphones — but didn’t do as well as the company expected. Now that the segment has a couple of players, it’s all the more important for the Cupertino giant to maintain its lead, especially as the pioneer. To achieve that, the company has been planning to upgrade the iPhone Air 2 with a secondary camera, something we’ve known for a while. However, a new leak from the Chinese tipster Instant Digital now claims that the next-generation slim iPhone could also get a slimmer Face ID module. Slimmer Face ID…
