Samsung Electronics unveiled three new foldable phones at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026 in London: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. It is the company’s most complete foldable lineup to date.

    Samsung Flex Titanium display technology

The new devices introduce Flex Titanium display technology, which uses a titanium-alloy film combined with an enhanced titanium plate to make the foldables thinner while maintaining durability. The display structure is designed to reduce crease visibility and make unfolding feel smoother.

Galaxy Z Fold 8: Lightest Fold Yet

The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs just 201 grams, making it Samsung’s lightest Fold ever. It packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform with a larger 4,800 mAh battery compared to the previous generation.

Two display ratios define the experience:

    • 10:16 cover screen: For quick messaging, social media, and short-form video.
    • 4:3 main display: A wider canvas for games, films, and reading. When rotated, the ratio naturally suits long-form content.

The main screen reaches up to 3,000 nits of brightness with Vision Booster and a low-reflection finish for outdoor visibility.

Camera upgrades include dual 50 MP sensors (wide and ultra-wide) with consistent high-resolution detail across both perspectives. New software features include Dual Recording, which captures both sides of a scene simultaneously using the cover screen as a viewfinder, and My FanCam, which automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes footage into a preferred aspect ratio.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: Maximum Productivity

The Fold 8 Ultra brings Samsung’s “Ultra” designation to foldables for the first time. It features a larger workspace than the standard Fold 8, targeting users who need maximum screen real estate for productivity tasks like split-screen multitasking, document editing, and creative work.

Samsung has not yet detailed the full spec sheet for the Ultra variant, but the Unpacked presentation positioned it as the productivity flagship of the lineup.

Galaxy Z Flip 8: Slimmest Flip

The Galaxy Z Flip8 measures just 6.1mm thick when unfolded and weighs 180 grams, making it the slimmest and lightest Flip Samsung has built. Key specs include:

    • 6.9-inch main display at 2,600 nits brightness
    • 50 MP main camera with Dual Pixel AF and OIS
    • 12 MP ultra-wide camera
    • 10 MP selfie camera
    • 256 GB or 512 GB storage options
    • 12 GB RAM

    When folded, it measures 75.4 x 85.7 x 13.1mm. When unfolded: 75.4 x 166.9 x 6.1mm.

    Galaxy AI Across the Lineup

All three devices run Galaxy AI optimized for their respective form factors. The Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra use the larger screens for multitasking AI features, while the Flip 8’s AI-native FlexWindow keeps relevant information and shortcuts on the cover screen.

Samsung also announced Gemini Intelligence integration, giving users additional agentic AI capabilities across the devices. Privacy and user control remain built into the AI architecture.

    Other Galaxy Unpacked Announcements

Samsung also launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, along with a new intelligent eyewear product that brings the Galaxy ecosystem into everyday wearables. Pre-orders for the Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 are live immediately, with market availability starting August 7, 2026.

The Z Fold 8 starts at a higher price than the Z Fold 7, and Samsung has reportedly dropped its usual pre-order deal for the new foldables.
