For those looking to upgrade their broadband in the coming weeks or starting in 2026, EE has enhanced its broadband offerings, which other providers like Sky and Virgin Media can’t match.

EE is now offering its Smart Hub 7 Plus routers as standard with all its broadband packages, providing improved wireless speeds for broadband and enhanced coverage throughout the home thanks to WiFi 7.

WiFi 7 is the latest wireless standard offering significantly faster speeds up to 46 Gbps as well as lower latency, and higher capacity than Wi-Fi 6/6E. That means it’s much more suitable for gaming and speedy downloads, such as 4K downloads and streaming.

Prices start at £28.99 per month for a 24-month broadband contract and range up to £39.99 for its super-fast 900 Mbps broadband packages. When it comes to Sky, it only offers its new WiFi 7 hub with its superfast gigabit broadband packages, whereas Virgin Media doesn’t offer a WiFi 7 router just yet.

That puts EE ahead of many internet providers across the UK. However, for those looking to rush and grab EE broadband for this upgrade, one thing that’s worth noting is that not every device is compatible with WiFi 7. WiFi 7 is also pretty limited in terms of range, meaning bigger households won’t be able to benefit from the improvements that WiFi 7 can provide.

EE broadband is offering its Smart Hub 7 Plus as standard with its broadband packages.

However, when it comes to things like gaming and streaming, EE’s new offerings definitely futureproof shoppers’ homes. EE has also tried to make switching to its broadband more appealing, offering up to £300 exit fees to new customers looking to switch over to it.

When it comes to reviews, Uswitch said: “EE broadband is a really good choice for people who value a strong, reliable service above anything else.

“However, if you’re looking to save some money on your bills, or if you’re happy to just pay for a simple broadband-only deal, there may be better options out there than EE.

“Many providers offer packages with similar speeds for a considerably lower monthly amount. If your main concern is getting online for basic internet tasks, a provider like Plusnet, NOW Broadband, or TalkTalk could offer more of what you need. The same goes for if you want to hold onto a big pay-TV package from the likes of Sky, Virgin or BT. You won’t be able to access as much content with any add-ons you get from EE.

“That said, EE is highly regarded for its customer service and reliability. So you might find yourself with far fewer issues during your contract if you opt for one of its slightly pricier packages.”
