Pixel 11 October Update Rolls Out, Still No QPR1

Google has released the October 2026 Android 17 update for its Pixel phones, covering devices from the Pixel 6 series all the way to the new Pixel 11 lineup. The update carries the 2026-10-01 security patch level with 28 resolved issues in the Android bulletin and six more fixes in Google’s own Pixel bulletin. One thing is missing, though: the Pixel 11 series is still not on Android 17 QPR1.

For users who paid flagship money for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL or Pixel 11 Pro Fold in August, that makes it two months of running older software than owners of older Pixel models.

    What the October update fixes

The changelog is small this month. Google has fixed a bug where the virtual keyboard would occasionally fail to appear when tapping search input fields, an issue affecting Pixel 8 and newer devices including the whole Pixel 11 family. A VoIP-related audio problem, where ringtones could sound distorted or noisy during certain calls, is fixed on Pixel 8 through Pixel 10 models. Pixel 11 owners also get a fix for photos and videos occasionally being saved in the wrong orientation.

Why Pixel 11 users are still waiting for QPR1

Android 17 QPR1 reached other Pixel devices in mid-September with visible changes such as system blur for the volume slider and power menu, a slimmer media player, a “Don’t ask me again” toggle on the Mobile Data quick settings tile and a new keyboard tile. The Pixel 11 series did not get it, and it also missed the first QPR2 beta before catching up with Beta 6.1 a few days later.

The Pixel 11 family launched in August on the base Android 17 release and received two early updates in September, but it has not received a single quarterly platform release yet. Observers note that a second October release is unlikely, so attention now shifts to November. With QPR2 only a month away at that point, Google could hold off and align all devices in December instead.

Build numbers for the October release are CP3A.261005.002.A1 for older models, CP3A.261005.005 for the Pixel 8 to Pixel 10a generation, and CD1A.261005.003 for the Pixel 11 series. Softbank variants of the Pixel 11 get CD1A.261005.003.B1.

    FAQ

Which phones are getting the October 2026 update?

Every supported Pixel from the Pixel 6 onwards, including the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold and the full Pixel 11 series.

    Why doesn’t the Pixel 11 have Android 17 QPR1?

Google has not given a reason. The Pixel 11 series skipped QPR1 while older Pixels received it in September, and it may now jump straight to a later release.

What bugs does the October update fix?

It fixes the keyboard not appearing in search fields, distorted ringtones during some VoIP calls and photos or videos saving with the wrong orientation on the Pixel 11 series.

Should I install the update straight away?

Yes. It includes the latest Android security patch for October 2026 and arrives over the air through Settings, System and Software updates.
