Xiaomi 18 Clears 3C With 100W Charging Ahead of Expected December Launch

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are already official, but the phone most people actually buy went quiet. Xiaomi never mentioned the vanilla Xiaomi 18 at its September launch, and the silence started a small storm of rumours that there would be no compact flagship this year. A fresh 3C certification listing says otherwise. A Xiaomi phone believed to be the Xiaomi 18 has cleared China’s 3C authority with 100W charging, pointing to a December debut. Here is everything the listing and the leaks tell us.

    3C Certification Confirms 100W Charging

The 3C listing is the first official trace of the vanilla Xiaomi 18. It shows a Xiaomi smartphone certified with 100W fast wired charging. That is unchanged from the Xiaomi 17, so buyers hoping for a charging speed bump on the standard model will not get one this generation. The certification timing lines up with earlier rumours of a December launch, which most watchers expect to be the Chinese release first.

    • Charging: 100W wired fast charging, same as the Xiaomi 17
    • Seen at: China’s 3C certification database
    • Expected launch: December 2026 for China, global timing not confirmed
    • Global context: the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max go global this month (November)

    Expected Specifications

Nothing beyond charging is confirmed yet, but the leaks have been consistent. Earlier reports point to the following package for the Xiaomi 18:

    • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, the standard version rather than the Extreme variant reserved for the 18 Pro Max
    • Main camera: 200MP sensor
    • Battery: 7,200mAh, which would be 200mAh larger than the Xiaomi 18 Pro’s cell
    • Charging: 100W wired, confirmed by 3C

The screen size is the open question. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the compact one this year, with a 6.4-inch display. Because the vanilla 18 is tipped to carry a bigger battery than the 18 Pro, the safe reading is that it slots between the Pro and the Pro Max in physical size. Where that lands in the hand is something no leak can settle.

    How the Lineup Fits Together

Xiaomi announced the 18 Pro series in China on 23 September 2026, hours after Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family. The Xiaomi 18 Pro was the first phone on the market with the standard 8 Elite Gen 6, while the 18 Pro Max claimed the 8 Elite Extreme variant. Both brought larger batteries, hardware-level privacy displays, updated telephoto cameras and the rear screens carried over from the 17 series.

Against that, the vanilla Xiaomi 18 looks like the value pick: the same generation of chip as the Pro, a 200MP main camera and the biggest battery of the three, but without the Extreme silicon and, presumably, without the Pro’s price tag. The 100W charging cap is the one clear downgrade on paper.

    Launch Timing and India Expectations

The December timeframe refers to the Chinese launch. Xiaomi has said the 18 Pro series goes global this month, and the vanilla model usually follows weeks later rather than months, but no global date is confirmed. For India, the pattern in recent years has been a China launch first, then an Indian launch a few weeks afterwards. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.

One factor worth watching is component cost. Memory prices have climbed sharply in what the industry is calling the current DRAM squeeze, and the pressure is already reshaping the phone market. Oppo reportedly cancelled its Find X10 Ultra because of memory costs, and Samsung’s upcoming flagships are the subject of daily pricing rumours. If Xiaomi holds the Xiaomi 18’s pricing near the Xiaomi 17’s, that will be a statement in this environment.

Xiaomi 18 vs Xiaomi 17: What Changes So Far

With only a certification and leaks on the table, the confirmed versus rumoured picture looks like this:

    • Charging: confirmed unchanged at 100W wired, same as the Xiaomi 17.
    • Chipset: tipped to move to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 generation, the standard variant rather than the Extreme.
    • Camera: a 200MP main sensor is the consistent leak, an upgrade on paper over the Xiaomi 17’s setup.
    • Battery: 7,200mAh tipped, larger than both the Xiaomi 17 and the new 18 Pro.
    • Timing: the Xiaomi 17 launched in December last year, and the 18 is tracking the same window.

Everything except the charging figure is still unofficial. Xiaomi typically confirms the full spec sheet and pricing at the launch event, so treat the leak list as a planning guide rather than a datasheet.

Why the 3C listing matters: China’s compulsory certification is one of the last regulatory stops before a device goes on sale, and listings there usually surface a few weeks before the launch event. For anyone deciding whether to wait or buy now, that makes the December window the thing to watch.

Tips If You Are Waiting for the Xiaomi 18

    • Do not import the Chinese model blindly. Chinese Xiaomi phones run a different software build with a different app store setup. Wait for the global version if you want Google services out of the box.
    • Watch the Pro series global launch this month. Its India pricing will tell you roughly where the vanilla 18 will land.
    • Check your charger. If you are upgrading from a Xiaomi 17, your existing 100W charger will carry over, since the charging speed is unchanged.
    • Hold off on buying a Xiaomi 17 at list price. Stock usually gets discounted once the successor is certified, which has now happened.

    FAQ

When will the Xiaomi 18 launch?

A 3C certification listing suggests a December 2026 launch, most likely in China first. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max go global in November 2026, but no global launch date for the vanilla Xiaomi 18 has been confirmed.

What charging speed does the Xiaomi 18 support?

The 3C listing shows 100W fast wired charging, the same as the Xiaomi 17. No wireless charging figures have appeared yet.

What are the expected Xiaomi 18 specifications?

Leaks point to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, a 200MP main camera and a 7,200mAh battery. The display size is unknown but expected to sit between the 6.4-inch 18 Pro and the larger 18 Pro Max.

How is the Xiaomi 18 different from the Xiaomi 18 Pro?

The Xiaomi 18 Pro gets the 6.4-inch display and the premium camera tuning, while the vanilla 18 is tipped to use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a larger 7,200mAh battery. The 18 Pro Max is the only model with the 8 Elite Extreme chip.
