Oppo has officially launched the Reno 16 and Reno 16c in India, bringing AI-powered camera features and a new hardware shortcut button to its mid-range lineup. The Reno 16 starts at an expected price of around Rs 25,000, positioning it against the OnePlus Nord and Samsung Galaxy A-series.

Oppo Reno 16: The Compact Mid-Range

The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1800 nits. The compact form factor is a departure from the trend of ever-larger screens, making it one of the smaller flagship-tier displays available in its price range.

Under the hood, the phone runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The 5,800mAh battery supports 80W wired charging, which should take the phone from zero to full in under 45 minutes.

Oppo Reno 16 series AI camera features

AI Snap Key: A Physical Button for Instant Capture

The standout hardware feature is the new AI Snap Key, a dedicated physical button for quickly saving content to Oppo’s MindSpace AI feature. Similar to OnePlus’s AI Plus Key, the Snap Key lets you capture screenshots, articles, or visual information with a single press, which the phone then organizes and makes searchable through AI.

This is Oppo’s bet on making AI features accessible through hardware rather than burying them in software menus. The Snap Key sits on the right edge of the phone, positioned where your thumb naturally rests.

Camera System: 50MP Main With AI Enhancements

The Reno 16 carries a 50MP main camera with OIS, paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. Oppo has loaded the camera app with AI scene detection, AI portrait mode, and a new AI Photo Remaster tool that can enhance older photos by upscaling resolution and improving lighting.

The front camera is a 32MP shooter housed in a punch-hole cutout. Selfie-focused features include AI beautification and a new group selfie mode that automatically adjusts the wide-angle to fit everyone in.

    Reno 16c: The Budget Alternative

The Reno 16c sits below the standard model with a larger 6.67-inch LCD display (still 120Hz) and a slightly bigger 6,000mAh battery. It drops to a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset and swaps the AMOLED panel for an LCD, keeping the price under Rs 20,000.

Camera specs drop to a 50MP main sensor without OIS and a 2MP macro lens instead of the ultrawide. The AI Snap Key is not present on the 16c, making it a clear differentiator between the two models.

    Software and Updates

Both phones run ColorOS 15 based on Android 15, with Oppo promising three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. The software includes Oppo’s AI Toolkit with features like AI Call Summary, AI Recording Summary, and Circle to Search integration.

    Availability and Pricing

The Oppo Reno 16 is expected to launch at around Rs 25,999 for the base 8GB/128GB variant, with the 12GB/256GB model priced at Rs 28,999. The Reno 16c starts at approximately Rs 17,999. Both phones will be available on Flipkart and Oppo’s official store starting July 2, 2026.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Oppo AI Snap Key?

The AI Snap Key is a dedicated physical button on the Oppo Reno 16 that lets you instantly capture and save content (screenshots, articles, visual information) to Oppo’s MindSpace AI organizer with a single press. It is similar to OnePlus’s AI Plus Key.

Does the Oppo Reno 16 support 5G?

Yes, both the Reno 16 and Reno 16c support 5G connectivity. The Reno 16 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset, while the Reno 16c uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, both of which include integrated 5G modems.

How does the Oppo Reno 16 compare to the OnePlus Nord?

The Reno 16 competes directly with the OnePlus Nord 5 in the Rs 25,000 segment. The Reno 16 has a more compact display (6.32 inches vs 6.7 inches), a larger battery (5,800mAh vs 5,500mAh), and faster charging (80W vs 67W), though the OnePlus Nord may offer better raw processing power with its Snapdragon chipset.

Will the Reno 16c get the AI Snap Key?

No, the AI Snap Key is exclusive to the standard Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro (if launched later). The Reno 16c does not include this hardware feature, making it one of the key differentiators between the two models.
