Ray-Ban Meta Update Adds Walking Navigation and Spatial Audio

Meta is rolling out software updates for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and the changes are genuinely useful for people who wear them outdoors. The reported updates bring walking navigation through Meta AI, along with new audio controls built for accessibility. The rollout happens through the Meta AI app, and not every user will see the features at the same time.

Turn-by-turn walking navigation arrives with version 128

The version 128 update reportedly adds turn-by-turn walking navigation to the glasses. Users can ask Meta AI for directions to a destination, and the glasses guide them along the route step by step. The feature uses location data from the connected phone, so you do not need to keep checking your handset while walking through a busy market or a new neighbourhood.

You can start navigation from your phone

There is also a way to kick off navigation from the phone itself. Search for a destination in a mapping app, share it with Meta AI, and select your connected glasses to get the directions read out to you. If the destination is too far to walk, the glasses can hand driving directions over to the phone instead. The walking navigation feature has reportedly become broadly available through a Meta AI app update, though the rollout can vary between users.

Spatial Audio and the version 129 controls

Version 128 is also said to introduce Spatial Audio, which makes calls, music, and Meta AI responses sound more open and directional. The newer version 129 update focuses on control. It reportedly adds a Mono Audio option, which plays the same sound through both speakers instead of splitting left and right channels. That helps users who hear better on one side. Version 129 also adds an Audio Balance slider, letting you shift the sound towards the left or the right speaker. Both controls sit in the Audio section of the device settings in the Meta AI app.

    Which glasses get the update

The features are rolling out through the Meta AI app rather than the glasses firmware alone, so keeping both the glasses and the app updated is the quickest way to see the new options. Version 128 is said to be more widely available right now, while version 129 is still making its way to users. Pricing and availability of the glasses themselves stays unchanged.

    FAQ

How do I get walking directions on Ray-Ban Meta glasses?

Update the Meta AI app and the glasses to version 128 or newer, then ask Meta AI for directions to a destination. The glasses use your connected phone’s location for turn-by-turn walking navigation.

What is Spatial Audio on Ray-Ban Meta?

Spatial Audio is an audio mode introduced in the version 128 update that makes sound from calls, music, and Meta AI responses feel wider and more directional through the glasses’ open-ear speakers.

What does Mono Audio do on Ray-Ban Meta?

Mono Audio plays the same sound through both speakers instead of separating left and right channels. It is helpful for users who hear better on one side, and it arrives with the version 129 update.

Do I need to update the glasses or the app for new features?

Both should be updated. The new features roll out through the Meta AI app, while the glasses firmware needs to be current for everything to work together.
